Address the AI Commentary
EA marketed NHL 27 around authentic atmospheres and a new broadcast experience, including a new commentary team.

“A new commentary team featuring ESPN play-by-play voice John Buccigross and former NHL goaltender Darren Pang brings fresh perspective, energy, and insight to every game. Updated play-by-play and analysis better capture the speed and emotion of hockey, with more natural reactions, improved flow, and deeper breakdowns that reflect what’s happening on the ice.”
That is not what is in the game.
There is little energy.
There is little emotion.
There is almost no flow.
John Buccigross then confirmed on the Chirping Zebras podcast that EA used generative AI.
His words: “They played me some stuff back of my voice. It’s like, ‘Wow, that’s pretty good!’ If that means less work but the same check, I’ll take it."
None of this is disclosed on the NHL 27 features page that sells the booth as authentic. Other EA sports titles have carried generative-AI labels. NHL 27’s store page does not.
Fans paid for a broadcast experience you advertised as more natural and more connected to the play. What shipped was framed by the lead commentator as less work for the same check.
That is not a “fresh perspective.” It is a cheaper pipeline sold as authenticity. Don't BS your fanbase.
Turn the commentary off and the game is quieter and more honest. That should not be the best option in a year you spent selling the booth.
