Does This Game Justify Full Price?

Unfortunately everything I have seen about this game so far does not justify paying full price.

-GM connected (or whatever it's called): an attempt, and I can appreciate that. But it's truly only 25% of the way completed.

-LT/L2: literally only a speed and balance buff. Could have been a patch.

-Defensive adjustments: could have been a patch

-Truculence: literally only decreases the get up time. Could have been a patch.

-Overhead game play: disappointingly similar to the negatives of game play in NHL 26

It seems like so much of the focus is new presentation which makes the game feel "fresh" for about a month.

If we look at any other game on the market, NHL 27 and it's "updates" would have essentially been a DLC for about $20/$30. I'll see you guys in November for the Black Friday sale.

  • Essentially what you're paying for is a pass to play with other people, and to keep the devs jobs. 26 will likely become a dead game online (I would think) so justified based on what they did? No! However, if you enjoy the game or sport/ it's what your friends enjoy, then it's up to you if it's worth it (opportunity cost.) If I was home I would wait until it went on sale just because I feel dirty giving the devs full price for how little they do.. but I enjoy playing so I would probably buy it because shelling out some money for playing a few games with a few people I've met in game is probably worth it to me... (unless GTA was taking all my time)

  • They literally could've patched the presentation and announcers into NHL26 and renamed it NHL27....it's literally the same gameplay.

I am one of the more cynical of this game but I have to disagree here. I've watched some gameplay and it does seem defense got a good bump for once. Pokechecks and interceptions seem improved, L2 is certainly nerfed some (not sure to what extent until people have enough time to play) could ALL of those changes been a patch? Yes. Should they have been a patch? Also, yes. However, as little work as it likely took for them to fix those things, they will certainly change gameplay up. I actually think this year they took a step forward, albeit a small step. The A.I. does not look improved at all, at least not at first glance. I still think goalies need to be prioritized in getting the best gameplay possible. I hope WoC is the focus in the next installment, but i think we all hope our modes get attention and point to the minor changes the other modes have gotten. This year WoC mostly just got more micro transactions, not exactly what anyone had hoped for.
