Gameplay and Arenas First impression

After playing my first games vs AI I am very surprised. All the hate and negativity about nhl 27 I genuinely thought it would be dead awful.

But the gameplay feels very different. High flips are back and allow for great passing plays. The Ai plays so much better compared to former nhl games. They do breakouts and there shots make way more sense this year. Also the playbooks really seem to have an effect on where your players are on a breakouts and how they move. It feels more fluid and realistic.

The stickhandling is a little more restrictiv this year but passing feels good.

Goalies so far where consistent and better than previous years.

It took until my third game vs AI for them to do a really stupid play, so that’s also positive.

The atmosphere in the arenas is also more dense and more reactive to what’s happening and feels generally more lively.

  • Yes, it is nice to see new cutscenes, but commentary is way too repetitive and limited. If A.I. is going to be implemented, make us believe in its future, not make us dread it with lifeless, recycled commentary lines from last year. Just empty, generic and already repetitive. There shouldn't be any excuse now to continuously add more commentary dialogue if actual human commentators don't need to be used in recording studio.
