Penalties in Chel

Remember in NHL 26, you could hit or be hit super late and there wouldn’t be a penalty?

Well now, immediately after a shot or pass if you hit, it’s a penalty. There has to be some middle ground here.

These chel games are having 8-10 power plays combined.  So so bad

  • Agreed. The time window to hit needs to be increased somewhere in between. It's way too short right now and causing tons of interference penalties

  • I agree they probably over tuned it, but keep in mind, no matter what the adjustment is, there is going to be a period of increased penalties.  The old muscle memory from the last couple games needs time to readjust to any new hit window.  I think it could use a slight adjustment to allow more checks to be finished, but I am also really enjoying watching the folks who were used to taking out our players behind the play get sent to the box.

I think its slightly overtuned however maybe only by a second or so.. as I have seen some are being called in that window.

The rule in hockey is 0.5-1 second, stick length or initiating the check before the puck is released..

The uptick in penalties is due to NHL 26 not enforcing this sort of penalty and players getting into a habit of knowing they can get away with late hits.

Yeah it's really bad right now, I got some friends who like to finish their checks after a breakout pass and they're now in the box half the game, and imo the bug is game breaking for players who like to finish checks. They desperately need a hotfix asap.

  • Between hut and club, there was only 1  club game where the other team was trying to run around like 26, they took a ton of pens as they should. You can still hit slightly late, if they revert it or increase the window we go back to the truculence stamina drain meta. They've neglected penalties for years and this was the expected response, EA forced people into bad habits.
