I can't agree to fully scripted ice-tilt but I will acknowledge *something* is definitely off in regards to online balance - That said, more shots/pass %/TOA doesn't directly correlate with skill; it's all about quality, not quantity.

If you are just taking pot-shots and your opponent is getting cross-creasers and blocking shots then that's on you, unfortunately. You need to just assume your goalie is terrible and do everything in your power to stop him from getting peppered with shots.

The biggest flaw with your suggestion (and probably the exact reason they haven't implemented something like it) is when teams who are really weak and choose rookie will most likely get paired with extremely dominant teams who also choose that difficulty for relatively easy wins. The more you play, the easier it is to learn how the AI plays and how to exploit it; you just need to work on playing the game, not playing hockey
