Be a PRO/Player Lock

I mainly play Be a Pro and other offline modes and I could talk about BAP fixes that are needed and the amount of customization options being way to few for hours. But a feature that other major sports titles such as FIFA and NBA 2k have that I would love to see in the NHL franchise, is player lock.

Player lock is a feature that basically means that you choose a player on a team, either that you created and assigned to that team, or any real player you want to, and you play as that player. You only play their shifts and the time in between I simulated, just like in BAP.

This means that I could create a 99 OVR player and absolutely dominate if I wanted to, or you could do what I think would be so fun and interesting with this feature, and play in any league and any team I want, with a created player. I could start in the juniors and become a two-way player in the NHL/AHL if I wanted to, play in the SHL or any other European league my whole career, the possibilities are so many. FIFA have this in their player career mode, where you create your player and play wherever you want, and at the end of your contract, other teams from any league will offer you a deal, so you can work your way up, or stay put where you started. I’m not asking for that much depth from the bat, but just a player lock feature in season mode would be great! I’d create my player, my own attributes and everything, put that player in the team I want to, go in a season mode and player lock to that player. When I finish that season, I could just upgrade him and put him on a different team, and play a new season, or just stay put and continue with that team.

The best thing would just be if all leagues in the game where in BAP, so you could pick wherever you want to start, and when your contract with that team is up, you get offers from all around the hockey world, and at the end you might work your way up to the NHL, if you want to go there. Now I’m not asking for all the fancy cutscenes and progress meters and salary bounces and stuff to be in a mode like this from the jump, I just think that being able to choose your own path and not just automatically becoming an NHL superstar no matter what would create so much more longevity and replay-ability for the BAP mode. And again, a player lock system for season mode and play now mode would be fine with me to start with.

Hopefully other offline players feel the same and can get on board with this idea. FIFA have had this for so many years, why can’t we have it? The system for playing only one players shifts and simulating in between is already there, and player creation and assigning to a team in season mode is already there, combine the two and it’s done!
