Can't link Xbox account

Hi, I've read the guide on linking accounts, but unfortunately it doesn't help with my situation.

I recently purchased an Xbox Series X and I can't play online with EA games as it comes up with a message saying my login credentials have expired. It will then show a QR code that takes me nowhere when I scan it. My EA account keeps telling me to change my password when I try logging in using the Xbox login option on my PC, but I then get stuck in a loop with it constantly asking me to change my password.

I can access my EA account using my PC via the Origin/EA apps and also on my PS4 Pro. The last time I played an EA game on an Xbox was years ago on my old Xbox 360 which I've not had for a long time. I also tried importing Xbox friends through the PC EA app and it came up with a message saying my EA account is linked with a different Xbox account, but it shouldn't be.

How do I solve this? Thanks

The verification code is being sent to a different email (possibly ours as you suggest). Gotcha. Can you reach out to our Support team below to raise this up to them for account assistance?

    Hi there, @PowerPie5000

You'll need to contact an advisor to get some assistance with this. To do that, please open a case here. Thanks!

  • Thanks, I spoke to someone using online chat yesterday and discovered that I apparently have an old EA account that I don't remember having and my Xbox account  is linked with that one. I was also told that it's a deactivated account and that there's nothing they can do as they can't see my details with it being closed. I've had my current Xbox and EA accounts for over 10 years so I'm not about to create new accounts.

Anyway, I managed to find my old email address that the old account is registered with. I tried logging in with all the passwords I know but none of them worked. I then went through the password reset link several times and never received a reset link through my old email account. I then tried to login in through the EA app on my PC using my old email address and it said it needs to send me a verification code, but it ends up trying to send it to some EA email address instead of my email address which is not very helpful. I've attached a screenshot of the address it's sending the verification code to.

I removed the image, please don't share email addresses on the forums that pertain to personal account details.

If you have access to the old email that was on your account it's best to contact our Support team so they can look into re-activating the account and assist with any other account changes. Our forum staff can't help with this for security reasons.

Hi there, that's the point... It wasn't a personal account! I was meant to get a verification code sent to my personal email, but EA for some reason are sending it somewhere else to one of their own accounts.
