Did the other controller disconnect as well? Was it another Elite or a different model?
I'm having the exact same issue. I went away for a while and my controllee shut down when I got it back on it would not let me control my player nor pause the game. When I press the xbox home button it pauses the game and then I can naviguate the menu, but once I close it nothing works. It happened in HUT solo.

Restarting the game fixed the issue, but it is still annoying and made me loose a game that was going in my favor. The bug obviously comes from the game as the controller worked with everything else than the controls of the player and pausing the game.

@EA_AljoIt happens in BAP as well. Xbox Series X with Elite V2 controller. If the controller turns off due to its auto-off feature, turning it back on let’s you control the menu. You can press start or B to leave the menu but you can’t control your player, skate to the bench, etc. anything on ice doesn’t work but menus are fine. I have to restart the game. Happens a lot since I have to take a bunch of 10-15min breaks when playing and I’ll forget to tap the D button when I walk by and the games paused.
Happens 100% of the time. I’ve tried turning off and on again, plugging in, going into the Xbox Accessories app and selecting the controller. Nothing get you back skating again.

Are you on Xbox Series X also?
For everyone else, are any of you on Xbox One or are you all on Series X?
- 4 years ago@EA_Aljo Yes I am on a series X. Now I also most of the time get an error message with the choices retry/download again or retry/continue without saving. I can't remember the message itself, but it stops doing it if I restart the game it looks like a problem with the quick resume.

I've seen this with quick resume as well. When that happens, the connection is severed so you need to reconnect. Disconnecting means any online mode you're in will kick you back to the home menu. I've been able to reconnect without restarting the game, but it can take a few tries.

Xbox elite controller disconnects mid game in WOC, restarting controller or re-syncing to Xbox does not work. Using standard controller to replace mid game does not work. Elite controller will still work in menus after pause, but cannot control skater when it resumes. Happens quite frequently, only resolution is to reset xbox.

Same thing happening to me. Elite 2 controller xbox series x, controller randomly disconnects mid game and doesn't reconnect unless you restart the game. I lost hut rivals games due to this issue where the game just dropped after not being able to reconnect the controller during the game. Kurt happened again in the middle of an SB game, went to xbox accessories and everything is fine with the controller, but not in nhl22.

Hi there, @XZMAN11X
How frequently is this happening? I also use an Elite 2 and have had it disconnect briefly, but normally it reconnects after 10 seconds or so. It's definitely frustrating since that can feel like an eternity. The controller will shut off on its own after a bit and turning it back on will fix it. This is really rare for me though and I'm not aware of a fix.

@EA_AljoThis is happening to me almost every game now. I'm still in the game but I can't move my players when this is happening.
Xbox elite controller: Click on LB and raise the right stick simultaneously. Happens 50% of the time.
Click on RB, LB and raise the right stick simultaneously. Happens 90% of the time.
Click on RB, LB and raise the left and right stick simultaneously. Happens 100% of the time.Series X.

I have the same setup. So far, I haven't experienced this on my Series X, but it was happening with NHL 21 on occasion. Unfortunately, I really can't think of anything else that may resolve this. Does the same thing happen when you leave the controller plugged in? I wouldn't think so, but it would be good to test. Have you also tried contacting Microsoft support to see if they may have some suggestions?

Ran into this tonight when I paused and went for supper and it disconnected. Was in squad battles. finally figured out a workaround to fix.
I hit Series 2 Xbox button and actually went to Home Screen. Then I pressed/held Xbox button and turned off controller.
turned controller back on and and quick resumed game at which point it prompted me to repair/sign in and then I got to screen to select controller to which team and all was good.
figured I should share. May have just got lucky too though.
hope it works for others.
