@EA_Aljo wrote:Thanks for the videos. What are your strategies set to?
Like I mentioned in the previous post I'm not 100% sure for all 4 videos, but I did take screenshots for one of them. The problem is that the default strategies seem to vary even for my same EASHL team and sometimes I forget to set them at the start of the game. They weren't set this way "on purpose", just to be clear...
Forecheck:
- offensive zone bias - balanced
- offensive zone - 2-3
- neutral zone - 1-3-1
Breakout:
- offensive pressure - full attack
- quick breakout - stay wide
- power play breakout - single swing (the time I got this screenshot we happened to be on the PP)
I'm guessing (hoping?) you're asking for the strategies to help try and recreate the issue, and not suggesting that this is how the CPU D should play with certain strategies :-)
What about the defensive pressure?

OK sorry it took a while to reply - it's been a long break for me between NHL versions and I forgot you can even set the defense pressure.
So I checked, and 2 things:
1) is it intentional that you can only set D pressure at very specific windows, like not during gameplay the way you can with offensive strategies? it's REALLY weird/annoying.
2) the default for me in EASHL seems to be "collapsing" - so that's what it was for these videos. That said, after you reminded me I could change those, I did tinker with it and it still happened also with "staggered". Can I change my EASHL team's defaults (for all strategies, O and D) so I don't have to fight with this every game, btw? That sure would be nice.
Thanks

This has been a problem for years. Unless there is an overhaul to cpu logic, you're stuck with heading over to the boards to get them back in to position

Unfortunately, you can only change strategies in game. I'd love for the ability to save them so they don't need to be changed every time. Hopefully, that happens. You mention not being able to change the D strategies during stoppages. What is happening when you try to do this? I haven't had a problem with it so far.

I'll have to go back and test it because it's hard to memorize, but going from memory:
pressing X during a cutscene / replay does nothing
pressing X during certain stoppage time brings up the dialog, but the buttons to cycle through strategies do nothing (and the screen / popup doesn't show them as being active - it seems they're disabled on purpose)
pressing X during gameplay does nothing (like while the puck is out there and actively in play)
I'll have to go back and test, as I said, to find the specific time(s) it does work -- I think maybe only pre-faceoff, going from memory?
either way, regardless of those strategies, the CPU D is still doing what it shows in the videos and playing my side at least a few times a game ☹️
