- @EA_Blueberry Thanks. I'll just wait till NHL 23 to see what they add for offline users. Many of us don't have lots of hope but beggars can't be choosers

@EA_Blueberry All we want with this thread is the option for helmetless players and vintage goalie masks. Will that ever come to NHL 22?
- @jlnhl2001 I'd wait till NHL 23. Doubt it happens for 22

So check this out. Someone in another Hockey Forum posted a modded roster for NHL 14 where they created players without helmets and goalies without masks or with vintage goalie masks. So if someone who isn't privy to the EA code is able to do this on an 8 year old version of the EA game why isn't it a simple fix for the people who wrote the code? So many features are added to this franchise that nobody asked about or cared about. The helmetless player option is already in the game (just not for us). The vintage goalie masks are in the game (just not for us). The vintage goalie masks are also in the game on the fans of the visiting teams (but not for us). Here's a screenshot from the modded NHL 14 roster showing the Canadiens bench full of players NOT wearing helmets.
Also, here are two screenshots from NHL 2K8. The vintage teams included with the game didn't have helmets either. The goalies had vintage masks (and you could create a goalie with a vintage mask). Imagine what NHL 2K22 would have been like given what NBA 2K22 looks and plays like?
I hope 2K and the company known as San Diego Studio (who makes MLB: The Show) are reviewing this forum. I think it won't take them long to see that the market is RIPE for a competitor's NHL game. Now I'm done.
Note to EA, if you want to keep your loyal customers, you're going to have to start giving the customer what they've asked for (for years now).
You can still save yourselves. Just patch this game and test the patch BEFORE you announce and release it. All you had to do was post something like "we know you're all anticipating this month's patch and we're working hard on it to ensure that it fixes the bugs and adds the features you've asked for." I have patience for that. I don't have patience for what we've experienced. This month's patch wore my patience out. Thank you. Peace out.
@T2HDMan that blue ice and ad free boards on NHL 2k8. Beautiful. I might have to go back to that game soon. I own a brand new copy of it, just need to get a new Xbox 360 and I'll be able to play it.
It's superior to NHL 22 in terms of customization options. Even has a goalie mask editor! And custom music too on the 360 version at least.
@SvenArne1232k8 and the modded NHL 14 that friend unlocked look like the games that we've been asking for.
I would love that! It would also be cool to be able to make helmet less goalies in chel and other modes.

Thanks for responding re: the helmetless player option being considered. I appreciate that.
Since we've honestly asked for this for several years now, I think it's time to give us this option within the next patch. I guarantee you, that will make the percentage of people playing NHL 22 over other games extremely happy.
It's a chance to mend the wounds that we're all suffering from. Given how much we spent to buy this game, there really is no reason we can't have this option.
It can't be because helmetless players require some special animation for the hair (or some other issue). Case in point, the female goalies in your latest addition (the IIHF Women's teams) have no masks at all. I realize this is an unintended bug but it shows that NHL 22 can in fact animate players/goalies without helmets. I have to say it was odd when Ray Ferraro commented that this goalie's mask saved her from the shot to the noggin (picture included).
Further, you have countless Alumni players/goalies playing without helmets or masks already in the game. Funny thing also I should mention is that Plante was the first one to wear a vintage goalie mask yet he's in the game without anything.
Please EA, listen to your existing customers. Further, the female market (the 48%) that you're trying to capture would also LOVE to be able to create the Alumni Legends that weren't in the game as they played in their days...without a helmet! If gamers are big enough hockey fans to buy NHL 22 (regardless of sex) they're most likely aware of the Legends who didn't wear helmets. We just want to be part of "EA Sports - It's in the Game!" OK? Give us all what we want please! Thank you.
- @T2HD Being able to create our own skaters is kind of a thin line when it comes to being able to do certain things. The mode might require certain rules to be in places that don't allow for created players to have no helmets because it is considered an official NHL type mode where as World of Chel isn't exactly the NHL so you get the freedom to go helmetless. And who knows if they are allowed to speak on this or not but I feel this would more than likely be the case for why it isn't in the game.
Real question that should be answered... Are the developers allowed to have helmetless players in the franchise mode? - T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran
Blueberry posted this earlier: "We'll try our best to get an answer on whether helmetless players will be a feature this year."
I don't take that as a no or a yes. We've been asking for several years now for this feature. If they were bound by a NHL rule I think they'd have let us know years ago to avoid all this wasted time and effort posting and replying to our wish list item.
If they're bound and cannot give us this, then not letting us know is a cruel prank and injustice to loyal fans (who can live with a "NO" if it is due to something out of their control).
Be well.
