Disconnect glitch???

I just finished a Rivals game and my opponent (who was losing) disconnected with under a minute left in the game. None of my stats counted. No rankings, no champs points, no coins. Nothing. It was just like when you get stuck in a faceoff loop and the game resets. But this was at the end of the game, and appears to be initiated by my opponent to avoid the loss. Anyone else run into this. We have the opponent matching glitch, and now this? Man, I hope not.

  • Hi there, @Yoderpl

    If you noticed any odd behavior before the disconnect happened, please send those details privately to a Community Manager. We'll get them reported. Thank you.

  • God...another possible glitch...i really really hope not...

  • This was my fault. I didn't know that if the opposing player stopped skating when the game got out of hand--basically resigning the game at the end of the third period rather than rage quitting, then I have to keep moving my player to avoid the disconnect. Nothing my opponent did...I just didn't know that you had to keep moving. I didn't want to run up the score, so just waited. Not a glitch...the disconnect was on me. But a heads up for those who didn't know...if you and your opponent run out the timer at the end, make sure to keep moving the player.

    @Yoderpl

    That would explain it then. You can be kicked in the case of an AFK. If anything else comes up, please let us know. Good luck and have fun 🙂

    It's almost like it would have been a great idea to overlay a timer or some sort of alert to let the player know this is going to happen, especially when it's a new feature introduced this year with minimal if not zero prior communication whatsoever. The "get in the game" banner was in the old games where it didn't do this so it really doesn't communicate that you'll be kicked

    Please do not "necropost" per this rule -

    • Don't "necropost." Reviving, updating or bumping old, outdated and irrelevant threads is not helpful for our community. It's best to check when the thread was created before you hit post, just to make sure it's not 2 years old for example.

    We didn't have any online games back in the 80s. As far as forcing disconnects goes, that can happen for Online Versus matches since they use a peer to peer connection, but other modes take place on dedicated servers where that is far less likely to happen.

    If you are disconnecting frequently, please post a new thread so we can go through some connection troubleshooting.

    Thread locked due to the previously mentioned necroposting.
