No. You just need it once as it will play on both PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Unless you want it for both PlayStation and Xbox. In that case, you would need to buy it twice.

The wording of this is a bit confusing because you listed four different versions of the game followed by the word "both."
When the guy re-asked the question he was obviously confused by your answer the first time, and yet instead of being kind and/or helpful, you were snarky about it and re-posted the same poor answer, unchanged.
What we're looking for here is some clarity.
Community ManagerThere was no snark intended at all. I was trying to be clear on this so I'm very sorry that's not how it was interpreted. NHL 21 is forward compatible with the new consoles. You only need to buy it once unless you want it for both PlayStation and Xbox. Then, you would need to buy it once for each console.

Unfortunately this isn’t the case. I have the digital version of nhl21 and I got the ps5 today. I downloaded the game and it says in order to play I must purchase it on this console
Will there be a PlayStation 5 version of the game released or will I only get to play the PlayStation 4 version on the PlayStation 5? In other words will I have to wait until NHL 22 comes out for there to be a game that is made for the PlayStation 5?
