EASHL ranking tier system

I'd like to get some information on the tiered ranking system. I was under the impression that in EASHL drop ins you would be matched up against same tiered players based on RP but it seems like that...

The new badges and tiers are just a repackaged CR system, I believe. You should never go into drop-ins expecting a balanced experience
