Actually the ECHL has been adamant about not letting EA profit from player names and likeness.
The last time I read something about it, it had to do with American Players in college not being professionals and thus not allowed to sign away their rights.
So, this one isn't on EA, its on the ECHL

@IrishOwl if the ECHL does not want EA to have the rights to their players, why does EA have the right to their players? I think you've been confused with NCAA.
The ECHL has been in NHL games for a while, yet the league is always neglected from Franchise Mode, which is a shame because of the decent prospects playing in the league, and it being a growth opportunity for future prospects.

You are correct, I was talking about the NCAA. (Too many acronyms to remember all the time).
