Heads up we might be able to get a refund with the new consumers rights act (placed in 2019): https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-10-01-new-consumer-rights-act-puts-gamers-in-the-driving-seat
If a game is faulty, you're entitled to a full refund.
When I first tried to refund the game months ago I don't think the Playstation store adhered to these customer rights. I was ineligible to refund because I had already begun playing the game and so there was no option to refund through their customer service department; but their should have been.
Also read through some and saw this: If a digital good is considered faulty, the Act gives consumers the right to repair or replacement, and the retailer must do this "within a reasonable time".
THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE.
Repairs in relation to video games may be updates and patches issued by the developer. So what would a "reasonable time" mean in this case?
If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful or impossible, the consumer can then claim a refund or a price reduction if they wish to keep the product.
A refund in this case must be given within 14 days beginning with the day on which the trader agrees the consumer is entitled to a refund, according to the Act.
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act are against the retailer - the company that sold you the product - not the manufacturer, and so you must take any claim to the retailer. So, if you bought a game from PlayStation Network that turned out to be faulty, your refund request would go through Sony. (xbox store: microsoft)
If a dispute occurs, you'll be able to complain to certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) providers, which is a cheaper option than going through the courts.
This game is not what was advertised; along with the product, the service has been inadequate and we have rights that entitle us to a full refund of the game.
You'd have to make the claim though and that's where the 14 day clock starts ticking. (Now I just need to find out where to make the claim; should this be posted as a thread)

@LordDeclandnot smart releasing a game in the state that it was, I wish I saw this sooner

@LordDecland That is interesting.... I don't quite understand why we have to get our refund from Microsoft/Sony instead of EA though, that seems kinda dumb since EA made and update this heap of trash. But a law is a law I guess. Frankly though, I don't really want a refund. I really just want this issue to be fixed so I can play again. Lemme know if any of y'all decide to go through with this refund and lmk how it works out for ya.
- 5 years ago@LordDecland My sons play NBA 2K20 and from what I've seen, it looks great. I'm not into any other sport but hockey so I'm stuck with this pile of heaping garbage unless 2K wants to join the party.

@TwoHeadedTOMIt's what I'm going to do; it essentially goes through the retailer, who then notifies the manufacturer. The thing is though if you get a refund you could still technically buy the game on boxing day and save money. If enough people apply for refund that's a problem for EA and they will hopefully notice it (part of their revenue becomes unearned revenue which is an expense that must be paid to the retailer who then has an account receivable with EA); I'm guessing they do since their sole focus seems to be on profiting off their product/service. It's also a bad look for them, if 2K notices it they might get ideas.

@LordDecland Hmmm, well if u have success in getting a refund then I might think about doing it too. B/c you're absolutely right, I bought the game for 60 bucks but I saw the game going for something like 30 bucks now and that wasn't even on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Plz update us on how it goes, may the force be with you friend.

So as I mentioned before I decided to start a FM to see if anything has changed or improved. The first two or three seasons the problem was relatively minor. There was still significant decline in players that should have only improved, but at first that was only with a couple players. However, by the fourth season, there was DRASTIC decline in almost every player where there really shouldn't have been. If you look at the progress reports, you can clearly see the issue, and I know people have mentioned this before, perhaps in this very thread. In the progress reports every player has the exact same negative growth as they do positive growth. Roope Hintz (I'm playing as the Dallas Stars) was an 86 overall prior to the season starting, then dropped back down to an 83 once I simulated to the regular season. I really don't know how this hasn't been fixed yet, but it makes me incredibly frustrated and caused me to just turn the game off.
You'd figure after near 80 replies pleading with EA for change, you'd get something, anything back from them. If this isn't fixed in the next update I am really going to flip.
- 5 years ago@TwoHeadedTOM I’ve been busy and every time I’ve booted up nhl 21, I just get bitter about how bad it is and turn it off. Maybe I’ll try tonight and run some tests too.
I’m as flabbergasted as you are, such a huge issue to not even be mentioned or fixed after two months on the market. - LordDecland5 years agoSeasoned Adventurer@TwoHeadedTOM on that refund update... only applies to the UK ☹️

Can we please get a fix for this? I’m done editing rosters, and after one run through of franchise this bug is so so so BRUTAL. It doesn’t even make sense...
- 5 years ago@bruinfan17 I hope cyberpunk sets a new standard for the state that games can be released in. Nhl 21 wasn’t as brutal as cyberpunk, but nhl 21 is also 1/10000th of a game that cyberpunk is.
I wouldn’t hold your breath on a fix any time soon. We haven’t seen any substantial fixes for FM so far besides maybe two(of hundreds) game breaking bugs. - 5 years ago
Bumping to the top, this is still not fixed. Really unbelievable.

Doing the same thing ^^^

Also merry Christmas everyone :D
- 5 years ago@TwoHeadedTOM Merry Christmas dude, and to everyone. Maybe in the new year FM and BAP will get some bug fixes?? I doubt they will make the modes playable by any means, but maybe a few steps.. even if it’s 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Better than the 100 steps back and no steps forward the modes took this year.
All of these bugs have really left a sour taste in my mouth, and nhl 21 has just sat idle in my ps4 storage eating up space. And it’s turned me off of nhl 20, haven’t played that one in over a month, because EA has just ruined the series for me for now. If they ever do fix this years game, maybe I’ll get back into it. I love hockey. And I miss it.
But I’m thinking we’ll ll have to wait until next year for a playable game - 5 years ago
I noticed something interesting while playing NHL 20. You know how after you sim to regular season players might minorly decrease in overall due to the inflated overall they had in the playoffs? (Example: Miro Heiskanen was a 94 after posting 25 points in 23 playoffs games in 2024, when I simmed to the regular season (past preseason) he dropped down back to a 92) I'm wondering if this is why they haven't fixed the issue yet in NHL 21, because they think it is just the fixing of over inflated overalls. The problem with that is that if you look at progress reports they don't experience the same negative growth than they do positive growth. And there is still noticeable decline in players even if you don't make the playoffs despite the fact that those players should have only grown in overalls.
Idk if that made any sense to y'all but it might be a possible explanation as to why this hasn't been noticed by ea. I know it's pretty pointless to speculate why they haven't fixed it but I thought I'd share it with y'all anyway.
Happy New Year folks!

@TwoHeadedTOMIn a way yea but there needs to be balance, it was so flawed the last time I played it. EA's service is absolutely pathetic, it's been months and they haven't fixed a broken game from release; they're sticking to their budget which is pretty selfish of them, I paid 80 bucks for this game and it's been a waste. Nothing that goes on in franchise mode makes sense, there is very minimal customization; they really should just take notes on what 2K does because there's a drastic difference, especially customization. Also should be able to turn off the team chemistry garbage, I used to just ignore it but It plays a big role in your team's success with zero logic, line & team chemistry is randomized, there's no logic to it... their logic is randomization with PLY SNP PWF. I came back on here to scroll through and check if anything has been updated but nope... I'm disgusted with them, you sell a broken product you should be working to fix it; replying with "we're looking into it" or whatever means nothing, it's been months and very minimal fixes have been made; there's been issues lingering for years that haven't been fixed; I'm seeing no action on their part. Look on their twitter and all they have to talk about is EASHL and HUT packs....
