Goalie masks for created teams

I'm not  new to the game   been playing since nhl94. Is it possible to put into franchise mode an option for created teams to be able to edit a goalie mask to match the team colors? We can do this with pads, gloves, blockers, and sticks so why stop short when it comes to the mask? It would be nice to have a created team goalie look like a full fledged member of the team.

  • Yes PLEASE!  Even better, could we have some kind of option to put the "custom" logos on the helmets somehow? I usually scour the "other league" Team Helmets trying to look for something remotely usable for my created team's goalie.

  • Yeah man, I'd love to see custom goalie masks soon. I could be wrong, but I think the reason why it's not included yet is because goalie masks use a texture map versus a color id map that they seem to use for the other gear to identify each zone. Or maybe the UVs are separated and dedicated to the colors we choose.

Anyways, all of that to say that EA could probably setup 5 different goalie masks where you could choose colors for dedicated zones and probably put your team logo on the sides or chin of the mask. The next best option, which would take a lot of work, would be setting up something like the creation area in Gran Turismo where you can apply shapes and gradients on layers of the model and move them around or rotate them. I think it's unlikely that we'll be able to upload our own texture maps for goalie masks because someone would need to monitor the content. I do think whenever they add custom goalie masks, it'll be something refined instead of basic.

I would just be happy with an Assign team colors option to the goalie mask/helmet.

  • @grkub I’ve been saying this for years! EA won’t get any additional money out of us for that improvement, so we will likely never see it happen.
They’re all about those HUT packs tho
  • Guess there should be no surprise that EA has no comment on this request to make the game better for offline users

I agree!  In addition, for example, when editing the Hartford Whalers goalie mask within the Alumni teams if you select a mask from a non-NHL team the mask will not be displayed within the game even though it shows in the "create a player" screen.  I tried changing Sean Burke's mask to the WHL Swift Current Broncos mask and it will not display within the game once you launch a game (it's not perfect but looks better than a plain white mask and it's close enough).  A better solution would be if you offered some NHL Alumni historic team masks like the Whalers or Nordiques since they aren't available.  They should be along with the vintage goalie masks that appear within the game on some of the goalies and the fans in the stands.  Please fix the goalie mask selection issue and add the masks for the Whalers and Nordiques along with generic vintage masks.  Thank you!!

I have been playing the game since it first came out, it’s very good but it misses a few simple things in the alumni vintage area ! We need more old sticks , helmets , skates , gloves , goalie equipment from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s ! For creation editing we should be able to decide if a player has a helmet or not and put which ever vintage mask we want on an vintage goalie! Very simple! And also bottom of the boards should have a edit option for the colour too just like the top boarder! Example the Montreal forum had blue at the bottom! Also put all logos from the past from jerseys to on ice logos! Example Toronto maple leaf gardens has a small circle with leaf inside ! Little things matter! This would explode if it was put in the game! Thank you
