@Wicked_DevilThe short and sweet answer is that EA's network code is abysmal and behind the curve. If you take a game like CS:GO (Source engine circa 2011) for example, players can have a wide range of pings and see almost no difference in their experience. That is because the server is authoritative, meaning the server takes all of the commands issued by each player's controller, and it takes into account everyone's pings before determining what actually happened. This is what you will see this play out on your screen.
EA just says "to hell with you" if you don't live in Quebec. There are many players who live right next to the North America North East server and have 5 ping. They will win every faceoff, they will poke check you with the swiftness of a god, and they will simply "out-play" you. This is because there's nothing behind the curtain to create a level playing field for players across acceptable pings. Whoever has a lower ping will have a clear advantage.
