When I take a puck a puck from the CPU and/or another player, I never hear the "clicking" sound. When I take it it it is usually not "Clean". There has to be something else involved for a "Clean" pick.
Can you take a video of this? It might be easier to explain then. That click sound is just from sticks colliding or picking up the puck. Actually knocking the puck loose is done by incidental contact, performing a stick lift or poke check. What do you mean by a "clean" pick up?

Hi, What I mean by a clean pickup is the CPU gets next to me, quickly steals the puck with hardly any effort and no clicking noise. When I play my Son In Law and he steals the puck, I hear the Click, so obviously he is hitting or pushing something. There is no way to do a video as I only see him once in awhile.

It's the same mechanic regardless of who you're playing. If you notice it when you're not playing your Son in Law, get some video and I'll let you know what's going on. When it comes to this happening when you're playing him, without seeing it, I really can't tell you what he's doing. It would have to be something I've previously mentioned though. Maybe you could ask him to get some video of it in his own play?

That's funny as he won't tell me what he is doing. That is why I'm asking you for help. Like I said it only clicks when playing him, not the CPU.

Without video, I really don't have anything else to add here beyond the explanation I've already given. It's really just a sound from picking up the puck, stick lifting, poking, or incidental contact. There is no button that automatically lets you steal the puck. You can cause a turnover with the methods I mentioned, but you still have to be in good position to pick up the puck after you've knocked it loose.

Someone mentioned pushing the X button for a stick lift, but doesn't the A button do the same? I will try different buttons to see what happens. There is a definite click by my Son In Law before he takes the puck off my stick, so he is pushing something.

The stick lift is done by hitting the A button on Xbox and the X button on PlayStation. You can see my previous posts for why you're hearing that sound. I'm very sorry, but there is no other information I can provide without a video.

I kind of thought the X button was on Playstaion. I haven't used the A button yet on NHL22, and may try it. That may be it. When I tried the A button on earlier versions of the NHL games, I was always penalized.

The stick lift has been known to cause penalties from bad angles. If you're in front of the carrier, chances are much better you'll get a clean lift.

I did play a NHL22 game tonight, and used the A button for the poke check. It worked along with using the left bumper. No penalties. So I think the clicking sound was my Son In Law pushing the A button.
