Without video, I really don't have anything else to add here beyond the explanation I've already given. It's really just a sound from picking up the puck, stick lifting, poking, or incidental contact. There is no button that automatically lets you steal the puck. You can cause a turnover with the methods I mentioned, but you still have to be in good position to pick up the puck after you've knocked it loose.
Someone mentioned pushing the X button for a stick lift, but doesn't the A button do the same? I will try different buttons to see what happens. There is a definite click by my Son In Law before he takes the puck off my stick, so he is pushing something.

The stick lift is done by hitting the A button on Xbox and the X button on PlayStation. You can see my previous posts for why you're hearing that sound. I'm very sorry, but there is no other information I can provide without a video.

I kind of thought the X button was on Playstaion. I haven't used the A button yet on NHL22, and may try it. That may be it. When I tried the A button on earlier versions of the NHL games, I was always penalized.

The stick lift has been known to cause penalties from bad angles. If you're in front of the carrier, chances are much better you'll get a clean lift.
