I have another question. One of my men is constantly deep in the offensive zone long after play has exited the zone, causing me to be off side when I try to renter the offensive zone. Is there a button or trigger I can push to make sure he is no longer sitting in the offensive zone? There has to be a way. Please advise. Tom
Unfortunately, there isn't a way to call them back onside. Normally, when this happens it's due to having a player get stuck in traffic. Hopefully, we'll see improvements here in the future. I've had it happen myself as well.

Hi, My man is usually trapped deep in the ozone=, usually behind the goal line. My opponent is never trapped in his ozone,
so maybe he is hitting a button, or the right trigger gets his player out of the ozone?

There is no button that calls your players back onside. They could be using more conservative forecheck and offensive pressure strategies that cause their players not to play so deep in the opposing zone. I've also seen this happen when a player gets knocked down. It can take a bit for them to get back up while play is transitioning back to your zone.

I think I use a "Normal" setting. I also use a 2-3 and a 1-4 strategy which would seem conservative.

You may want to try 1-2-2 Passive for your forecheck. Also, you can set your Trap/Forecheck to 0 to help and Defensive Pressure to Defend Lead. These should make your players more conservative, but I can't guarantee they'll never be caught deep in your opponent's zone.

Thanks. I will give it a try.

Hi, I tried your recommended settings, and there was no difference. Any other suggestions? Tom

Can you show me some video of what is happening?
- UnwiserSpider764 years agoSeasoned Traveler
I don't know how to take a video, but what happens many times is when I go back on the attack, I have one man deep in the attack zone. Many times he is below the goal line. So it is explainable without a video, I think as it happens frequently.

Both consoles have a built-in game DVR. You can search for those instructions online or tell me which system you have and I'll get you those instructions.

Hi, I am still trying to figure out how to run the DVR. What I have so far is when I press on the"X" I get a short video. Not sure if that's what you want. I know there is a 5 minute recording option I am still trying to figure out. Is the "X" option sufficient for you? I also have another question for you. I adjusted the Sliders last week to be more efficient against the CPU. Since then the puck seems to slightly bounce off my player's stick when receiving a pass, which seemed to start happening after I adjusted the sliders. Can you figure out which slider(s) I may need to readjust?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Tom

You can find some instructions for recording clips here.
Try adjusting the Pass Reception Ease, Reception Reaction Time, and Puck Control Rating Effect sliders. Each slider also has a description of what they control. That pops up on the right when you navigate between sliders so that should help tell you what the sliders do.

Hi the video is for Play station. I have XBox One. Tom
- UnwiserSpider764 years agoSeasoned Traveler
Thanks I will check it out. I did mention that I set it up where I can also push the X button to record. Tom

Hi, I think I have the DVR set using the X button on my XBox One, per the instructions you sent me. I just played a NHL22 game, and the icing situation didn't really come up. When it does I will try recording it by pushing the x button. On the puck bouncing off my players stick, it hasn't happened recently. As a result I haven't changed any settings (back) on the puck handling sliders as yet. I will try keeping you updated on my progress. Tom

I often get called for icing even though im beyond center ice, I use overhead view, not sure why this is still an issue

The thing about the line calls (icing, offside) is that they're literally determined by pixels. So there's no 'grey area' of linesmen subjectivity that you see in real life.
If you're called for icing or offsides or any other line infraction, it's determined by pixels and the interaction between those pixels in the line and the geometry of the player, in addition to the pixels on the puck.
This is actually executed well in that I can wind up for a slap-shot dump in before I hit center ice - and I know that when the animation ends, the puck will actually be released from my player model AFTER center ice - thus resulting in No icing.
If you have a video of an icing call you think shouldn't have been, you should post it.

Hi,
The problem I always encounter is when I beat the defender for icing, but am on the other side of the ice (from the puck), I am called for icing. That should be fixed, If I am in a position to do a video in the future, I will.

Icing is based on who can touch the puck first. So, if you're on the other side of the ice and the defender can touch the puck first, icing can be called. This also goes for when the puck travels around the boards. However, we're aware that there are some instances where icing isn't called as it should be. The dev team is aware of this.

I know, and that's always been a problem on the NHL games over the years. If my player beats the defending player to the hash marks, and the puck is on the other side I'm always called for icing. It does sound like EA Sports is aware of it. I hope it is fixed soon. Tom

You're welcome to provide video of any questionable calls. I'll report them to the dev team for you.

Thanks. I do have the X button set for it. Just need to remember to push it when the situation arises. Then I will ask you how to send it to you. LOL. Tom

Once you have the video, upload it to YouTube and just provide a link to it.
