HUT picked wrong starter team, new to game

Hi all:

I just got NHL14 a few days ago and am really enjoying it. I went into the HUT mode just to see what it's all about and entered a team name and abbreviation like it asked. It showed the Anaheim Ducks' jersey and I thought that was just placeholder graphics. The HUT instructions made it sound like I would pick my desired favorite team after entering my team name and abbreviation.

I was dismayed and unhappy to find out that my starter pack is the Anaheim friggin Ducks. I spent the next 10 minutes going through the main menus and eventually found a setting to pick your favorite team. Is that what I had to set prior to starting HUT?

This is ridiculous and completely unintuitive for someone new to this game. How was I supposed to know to change this? My favorite team is the Pens. Can I reset my HUT and start again? This is very frustrating.

    To change your starter team in HUT, you must first delete your HUT team (Hockey Ultimate Team > Extras > Delete team). Then you will need to change your favorite team (Customize > Favorite team) to the desired team, which in this case is the Penguins and create a new HUT team. Or, you could buy the approprate jersey and logo cards off of the HUT auction house (Trading > Search for item > Search type: Team information / League: NHL / Team: Pittsburgh).

    If I'm not mistaken, the game will ask you when you first boot it, what your favourite team is.

    Stroll all the way down to extras and go to delete team. You can also get a bunch of different Pens jerseys from the auction house so keep that in mind too.

    Hi Jonesyy. Thanks for the reply. I did not see an option when I first fired up the game to pick my favorite team. Perhaps this is because my friend played his NHL14 on my system before I bought my NHL14?

    Also, and more importantly, if I delete my HUT team, will I get to pick a new starter pack?

    So welcome to HUT!!! Yes if you delete your team and get a new one you will get a new starter pack but keep in mind that all starter packs suck and everyone will be far better then you online... People this year have used the term "farming" to get all the 80+ players and have totallly messed up the system of the game... its funny though that its possible to loop hole a game like this.... Enjoy your time in HUT which stands for Humans Understand Torture!!

    @golfing:  I chuckled at your comment.  Thanks for the heads-up.  🙂  I don't know how much I will be playing this game mode based on the negatives I have heard of it, but I hope it's not too bad...
