I like your ideas!
Anything that brings an extra touch of realism. Career ending injuries would be a great option, from a realism point of view. Of course not something for everyone, but to have it as an option to turn on I think would be great (even in Franchise mode). Just injuries that last longer would be welcome.
Also suspensions, both in BAP and Franchise. I'm one of those who get frustrated during bad games and deliver stupid hits, and to get a two minute boarding (or checking from behind) for it. I have sometimes changed the settings to increase the risk of injury, and increased penalties such as boarding, checking from behind so, that a bad hit usually means 5 minutes and a game misconduct (and that the player get injured for getting completely crushed). But being tossed from one game doesn't really do the thing justice either, compared to the action. I want a proper reason to stop doing those things...
All sorts of negotiations are welcome, and certainly the contract in BAP. These last couple of years I feel that contract negotiations for players have become a different animal and there is more focus on it than it has been in the past. I would even want to see some flexibility in Franchise in this regard. Like Toronto's Thornton-signing this off-season. It would be nice to be able to approach a player nearing the end of his career with something extra. Not sure how it would work, but some kind of risk/reward approach, that either you get the player cheap because he believes in your approach, or close the door and won't sign with you at all. It could be something for any player really, but a risk/reward approach in some way, as an option to the traditional amount they ask for.
Definitely more variation with the draft in BAP. Currently there's no point doing good before the draft, unless you want to go NYR or LA. I myself created an enforcer d-man, fought twice in two games in CHL (game misconduct for fighting there) and got drafted 129th in the 5th round by the Ducks. But now the games before the draft just feels like games to * up in different ways, and see if you get drafted to different team. A friend of min got drafted by Vancouver in the 2nd round once, but the system isn't good as it is, that's for sure.
