Input Loss Issues

I have recently been experiencing an issue where I will boot up NHL one day and the game will miss many of my inputs, and I mean many (like 30-50%). It makes the game practically unplayable, happens online or local and even in the menu screens it will miss while trying to scroll the tiles or click. However, when I exit the game to test my controller in Xbox settings, there is no issue whatsoever. Other games, no problem. It is isolated to NHL 21 only. The only fix I have found was to delete and reinstall the game, but now I am having to do it for a second time, so it's quite frustrating.

This game has had its fair share of critical bugs over the years that never get fixed, but this is a new one. Please fix your game, and ensure this is not a problem in 22.

    Hi there, @Chaseinator5.

    Thanks for the report on this. I'm not seeing other reports of this so let's try troubleshooting. Have you tried using a different controller? Also, what controller(s) are you using? Are they official Xbox or 3rd party? Are they wired or wireless?

  • Official Xbox wireless controller (elite that came with Xbox series X console purchase, no modifications).

    We can continue the troubleshoot but this is definitely a problem isolated to NHL 21. I have tested the controller as mentioned and there are no problems, and I also don't experience issues in other games. To further this point, when I reinstall the game, scrolling suddenly becomes faster and the input loss disappears (for some time before it returns after a few weeks).

    It's also not an online/internet issue as the problem occurs locally and in the menu screen of NHL as well. So some type of software/running error in NHL 21. I first ran into this problem about a month ago, so I reinstalled the game, but it reappeared a couple days ago, so I reinstalled again.

    @Chaseinator5

    It's an odd issue for sure. Have you tried plugging in the controller? Have you tried another controller as well? Is the firmware for it up to date?

  • I have tried another controller (resulting in the same issue persisting) and I ensured my controller's firmware was up to date. I have not tried plugging in the controller, but this issue is no longer a problem that I can try this for as I have already fixed the problem by reinstalling. Maybe if it happens again I can try this, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the controller or Xbox receiving the input signal as there is no problem outside of NHL.

    Sounds good. Hopefully, that takes care of it. Let me know if you continue to have any issues. Thanks!
