Interference calls are terrible. I was in a puck battle behind the net and was called for interference by attempting to shove my opponent with the puck underneath both of us (I do though really enjoy the stick battles this year with the new physics btw). First off I didn't even get much of a push animation to begin with but the moment I hit RS the ref put his arm up. As far as I'm aware this was never really an issue in previous games but this happens a lot to me each game. If the puck is loose you can't push or shove a guy to gain body position to pick up the puck. In addition I play a lot of defense in EASHL and you cannot push or shove a player standing in front of the net either. It is an instant penalty. The net battles in front of the net are borderline unusable due to the fact a player needs to stand still to engage in an animation. So not having the ability to move a guy in front without a penalty just gives defense one less tool to use. Agreed. Game needs to allow battles for space out there. Interference should be a rare call for a blatant offense.

I am loving pretty much all the other changes but interference calls need to be toned down quite a bit for defenders guarding in front of their net. If however EA is trying to steer people to only using net battles (whose effectiveness has been spotty in the past IMO) then perhaps someone from EA can chime in and say so. But as a defender if the guy I am covering is at the back door or in front of the net I certainly would not expect and interference penalty for a stationary shove. This is not something that is called IRL.

Agreed. Game needs to allow battles for space out there. Interference should be a rare call for a blatant offense.

@IceLion68 It's not strange defenders need to be able to 'take some room' infront of the net - considering the craving forwards got for the cross crease.

But I dont know if they can allowed by programing more forgivness only infront of the net without changing body contact all over the ice.

Cause Im guessing this is mostly a problem in the area infront of the goalies? - when you are fighting for a good positioning.

I dont experience the same in the 1vs1 - but I can imagine it to be a bigger problem for you chel guys.

Just took one in a squad battle trying to tie up the draw. Took another when I ran into the CPU player that stopped dead in front of me in the neutral zone. The game consnstantly interferes, runs picks, or otherwise makes my players stumble or get snagged up like their jerseys are made of barbed wire.
Game is bad. 🤷‍♂️

I liked being able to bump and shove forwards in front of the net in previous years. I think it's realistic and should be brought back for sure.
That said, the actual net battle mechanic (activated by holding the triangle button on PlayStation or the Y button on Xbox) works better this year so that makes up for it somewhat. I've been using it a lot and it seems to activate way more often than before. Maybe that's because forwards are actually parking in front of the net now for deflections and rebounds.

I have noticed the penalties being SUPER weak since the patch. Interference being the worst one. as a DMan I cant do a whole lot any more. the definitely nerfed defense all together and increased the penalty calls. it sucks watching my forwards get charged into oblivion with no call but I shove a guy in front of the net to prevent a tip attempt and I get called for a 2 min minor. its brutal. The game needs to be tuned to let the borderline * go and call the egregious stuff 100% of the time. I see guys come from center ice and make a hit behind the goal line with no call but a puck battle behind the net results in a penalty. its a video game and it will never be perfect but I know theres a way to set it up to let the little bumps and shoves go 95% of the time and call the egregious stuff 100% of the time.
BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL STYLE OF GAMEPLAY, THIS ARCADE BS THAT YOU REVERTED THIS GAME TO IS A DISGRACE

Agree, I know how to battle in front of the net without taking penalties...at least for the last 10 years. Suddenly, the slightest nudge is sending me to the box. Sensitivity around the net needs to be decreased for defense.

@PlayoffError We've had this happen in games with my club too. Blatant penalties not getting called while other times players are getting called for looking at someone wrong.
