This year has not been a good year for NHL for obvious reasons like we can’t play because of the bad bugs that are in it but in the mean time since I can’t play it I figure I can ask some questions about other things to maybe get some information on it hopefully such as why the juniors and AHL was removed from Be a Pro.They were such good parts of the game and were very important and now the Be a Pro 21 and 22 are just boring to play because it’s not fun anymore. You are chosen first overall so often, and even if you play bad you are drafted highly. You have to do really really bad just to get drafted in the second round which is so unrealistic. honestly the Be a Pro in 19 was way better even if it wasn’t that good. If the new Be a Pro didn’t make it so easy to get drafted first it would be better. Like working your way up through the juniors. That was the most fun. Even players in real life can put up 80-100 points in the juniors but doesn’t mean they will get drafted top ten. In this game now we get 2 assists and we are drafted in top ten. I don’t know, I am just waiting to be able to play the game I paid $80+ for so I was hoping the least I could get is some information about why the juniors and AHL was removed and if it will come back @EA_Blueberry @EA_Aljo

I created a thread in December but want to elaborate on it more…Put juniors back in… remove the storyline of being forced to become the next Great One without any effort.. or at least create a separate storyline that lets you play how you want.. an adaptive storyline…want to be a stay at home shutdown defenseman? Great.. get relevant coach challenges like “we’re up by a goal, block 2-3 shots to preserve our lead..like role playing as a grinder/def minded shutdown forward earning that niche role? Coach challenges like get x amount of takeaways when we’re in the defensive zone.. stick lift x amount of times in defensive zones.. etcoffensive dman?get 2 assists this game, get a GWG etcstuff like that.. have the storylines and coach challenges MATCH your player type.. defensive defenseman shouldn’t be relied on to constantly get goals when team is behind..Snipers shouldn’t be relied on to play superb defensively or physically..stuff like that..the storyline for the current Be a Pro is way too linear.. you are a god no matter what you do..remove, or separate, the forced stardom…on top of that, put the AHL back in.. if you play poorly, get sent down. If you are too young and are playing poorly, get sent back to the juniors. if the juniors are back in, and as a PLY/TWF forward we score 70G,74A in 60gp, sure maybe that is a top ten draft position. but if we score 15G,35A in 60gp with 150 PIM as a grinder.. maybe we don’t get picked until the 5th round or later.. have it make sense.. like real life.. that’s what the simulation hockey is supposed to be.. like a simulation of the real NHL.. not easy god mode.. of course the bugs need to be fixed… win the Selke as best defensive forward but never get to play on the penalty kill.. constant dialogue issues.. challenges that fail even if you meet criteria.. so on and so on

I started a be a pro career in NHL 20 today. Makes much more sense than an NHL 22 career with bugs and all those stupid conversations. In NHL 20 I can start in CHL, choose my age and play full junior seasons. After editing some sliders even the gameplay feels better than NHL 22.I don't care about players' eye movements, hardly visible details in their equipment or anything like that. Gameplay is the most important thing. Creation zone that works is another one.

@heavydutyrammer BAP and Franchise for that matter are both low priority to EA and the teams assigned to all offline modes are probably very small have very limited resources and budget because offline players are a "one and done" payment system once they get our money there's no more until next year so they put in the bare minimum to scrape by with enough "new features" to try to shut up offline players for a bit and then pump every available resources into HUT with weekly updates new cards new packs new this new that for HUT cause people keep pumping hundreds if not thousands of dollars into their "gambling simulator" it's a money factory that's the biggest reason BAP is big steaming pile of you know what because EA won't give the offline modes more resources because it's not a money maker

I still don’t know why they took them out.. it is really boring to play a couple games in the champions league tournament, and get selected 1st overall every single time.. let us be able to play in the juniors and prove ourselves to the team that picks us instead of basing it off of a couple games.. and if we play badly, let us be sent down back to the juniors/AHL.. it’s so unrealistic to have a 70ovr player on your top 2 lines and pushing elite players down the lineup the whole Be a Pro revamp wasn’t very good.. it LOOKS nice.. but that’s about it.. it’s all smoke and mirrors.. it doesn’t play well. You are forced against your will to become a superstar.. you aren’t allowed to try and earn it instead..Also maybe don’t have the same exact draft order every time.. that gets stale very quickly.. please put the juniors back into the game.. it is such an important part to hockey it literally makes zero sense to remove them..

Me too. I know what they are trying to do, problem is that it seems like most vocal be a pro players don’t want the mode to be the way it is. I want CHL and AHL as well as a lot of the other suggestions that have been made. Not likely though.

@superjim315 Yes it seems that the overall census on the Be a Pro game mode since it was reworked is that it is not good. It was really full of bugs when it was released like the captain without even playing a game, the showcase guy talking about being in your rookie season in your 10th season etc. and that it is too boring because after your rookie season there is nothing to play for. They added these X factors and tried to make it a story line thing but it is just not fun anymore and it is really sad because I loved this game mode a lot

Playing in the juniors and trying to prove yourself worthy of being picked 1st overall was fun. And even then, tons of IRL players put up 100+pt seasons in the juniors and still don’t get picked in the top 20. I wish it was realistic and not just a oh here you go you’re picked first every time

@superjim315 NHL 14 was one of the best games they released. It has really been lackluster and downhill ever since that game. The Franchise Mode and the Be a Pro game modes have seen hardly any updates in the past 8 game releases since that good NHL 14 game and that is pretty wild.. so one offline player would have paid $640+taxes CDN if they bought full price every year and really the changes made are very minimal compared to the cost that they paid for the offline game modes

@olavi4 Yes that’s exactly how the Be a Pro game mode should be, is being able to start in the CHL and work your way up into the NHL the realistic way.. not getting drafted in the top ten every single time if you get an assist or two

@heavydutyrammer Still we have not received any words from the EA company on the decisions behind removing the junior leagues as well as removing and locking us out of the edit players in the Franchise Mode game

I can't speak for EA But my best guess is they just didn't wanna put on the work to adapt the new features into the old ones I mean it took two iterations just to get multi year storylines in the NHL let alone the work they'd have to do on multi year storylines for junior leagues and euro leagues also the different storylines for draft position I mean right now there's one bap storyline and that's be a superstar there needs to be more paths to the NHL and through the draft so the amount of storyline work they just didn't wanna do then you'd need you'd AHL storylines and storylines for getting setting sent to junior and the the AHL and storylines for developing and getting called up not only do they need storylines they need goals rewards punishments and the biggest part is balance they don't know a thing about balance there's so much they can do with this mode to make it so immersive and true to life beyond the on ice action they can't even get conversations right as things stand now I mean I get a coach challenge and fail it and we lose the game and the coach stops me in the halls after the game and says "I'm disappointed with what you did our there" and my character replies "I think we can still get back in this" really? When the games over we're gonna get back in it? And it happens with most coach challenges but I digress the reason they left it out is because it was more than they could handle is the simple answer

@LeafsNation84 That’s a pretty good idea you have and it is probably the most accurate.. I don’t know what it is,, if they don’t have the resources to actually make the Be a Pro game worthwhile.. and integrate the most important features back in, and properly rework the storylines.. I am sorry but X factors aren’t storylines lol it’s just achievement hunting with a coat of paint on it I mean what if I want to play as an enforcer but now I can’t because I have to play as a superstar that’s just no fun because there is no variation… the Live the Life was a much better game mode before..
or maybe they just don’t care enough about the mode to work in all the good features that they took out.. I don’t know.. it’s just pretty upsetting how the Be a Pro game mode is right now.. it is not good or fun and all they added was X factors and more conversations.. we’ve been asking for an injury tracker.. since they removed it lol
I just hope that next year maybe they will actually work on it.. the revamp wasn’t really a revamp but stripping it down to focus on the rookie year and nothing else instead of the career as a whole
Maybe one year it will focus on the whole career again instead of just the rookie year
