I play on a wired connection and have ports open all the time. I don't think it's a connection issue rather then matchmaking algorithm. It makes no sense that if I pick G it matches me with a D and if I pick D it matches me with a G

I think it's more coincidence that you keep getting the same positions. Where are you located? Matchmaking is regional so it also depends on who is searching for a game at the same time you are.
