When I booted up NHL 22 for the first time, I couldn't help but notice how quiet the menu music is. Whenever I wasn't playing NHL 22, the PS4 menu would be too loud. And whenever I was playing NHL 22, and getting into a game, suddenly the game becomes really loud. And this is with the menu music volume turned 10/10. I had to turn everything else down, so that I can turn the TV volume up so I can hear the menu music, without the game blasting really loudly whenever I'm in a game.

I also just for the sake of it play NHL 17, 21, and 22 back to back with OBS Studio to check the audio mixer, and have all the volume settings turned to 10/10 in the games. And once I got to NHL 22, the menu music was really quiet, despite the volume slider being at 10/10. NHL 22's menu music is approximately 10 decibels quieter than NHL 17's menu music, and 5 decibels quieter than NHL 21's menu music. According to OBS Studio's audio mixer's volume bars, the NHL 17 menu music capped at -15 dB on average, while NHL 22 menu music capped at -25 dB on average. So I'm hoping that you guys can turn up the menu music about 10 decibels in the next patch. If people think it's too loud, they can just turn it down in the volume settings. But I personally think it's way too quiet, even at 10/10.

    Hello, @Mickelraven

    Is the menu music really quiet if you use headphones as well? What kind of audio setup do you have? Are you just using TV speakers or do you have a home theater system?

  • @EA_Aljo I have my TV connected to a pair of speakers using an AUX cable. I'm not sure how it has anything to do with this, since I have my PS4 connected to my PC using an Elgato capture card, and I can see from the volume bar in OBS Studio to tell how loud the game is. And the menu music isn't as loud as NHL 19 and 20 were when comparing how bar the volume bar goes (as I was playing these games back to back just moments ago). Remember, the rest of the NHL 22's volume is still normal. It's just the menu music that's really quiet.
  • @EA_Aljo Also, I have played NHL 22 some place else (PS4 Pro on a 4K HDR TV), and the menu music is really quiet there as well. And again, the rest of the game plays at a normal volume.
  • @EA_AljoAccording to OBS Studio's audio mixer, the menu music in NHL 22 is approximately 10 decibels quieter than NHL 17's menu music, and 5 decibels quieter than NHL 21's. I was just playing these back to back with OBS to see how quiet the NHL 22 menu music is. Where on the OBS volume bar, the NHL 17 music was at -15 dB on average, 21 was -20 dB while NHL 22 is at -25 dB on average. And all three games have their menu music volume slider at 10/10. So I'm hoping you can turn up the menu music volume around 10 decibels for the next patch.

    @Mickelraven

    Thanks for all those details. As a test, can you try playing through normal TV speakers to see if you still have the same issue? So far, I'm not seeing other reports of this so we need to rule out any issues with the speakers you're using.
