NHL 14 needs tweaking ASAP

So, I literally just finished playing a season of NHL 14 Be a Pro as a goalie. My team got to the playoffs. We were knocked out of the conference semi-finals in 6 games. Game 5, we were up by three goals going into the 3rd period. The other team came back to tie and beat us in OT. I thought to myself, "That's tough, but it happens." (Even though one of those goals was a bad luck soft goal that EA is so fond of, I was trying to stay optimistic and not let EA get me down. Besides, that kind of comeback can't possibly happen 2 times in a row) Game 6 comes along. We're up 4-1 early in the 3rd. I was in the "zone" and really confident in my playing, stone walling everything (with the exception of the one goal, which was a legitimate goal). Less than 6 minutes left in regulation they score a goal. No problem, we're still up by 2. The very next offensive drive, they score again. Okay.... there's about 3 minutes left on the clock. I can hold out. I was shutting them out the first two periods. Then we draw a penalty. Of course they score with less than a minute remaining to tie the game. The way they score is the opposing player has the puck on his stick, loses it. I go to cover up, however I do this weird thing where I automatic go way out of position and he scores. It looked like I was playing dodgeball instead of hockey, because I basically dove out of the way. Okay, now I'm pretty pissed, but I've won in OT before. Buzz! Wrong! With 6 seconds left in regulation, two players are fighting for the puck against the boards off to the side and my own guy knocks towards me. Easy stop, right? Nope, it somehow slips through, or under, my pads and we lose. I literally had a Bill Buckner moment. I could see if these shenanigans happened once in a blue moon, but they don't. They literally happen ever other game (and I'm being generous with that estimate). Let me tell you I am a HUGE hockey fan, but you've taken something that I love and is fun and turned it into a nightmare. I don't know if you notice, but gamers make youtube videos making fun of your game. Unless you fix these cheap gameplay gimmicks, I WILL NEVER buy another NHL game. But what do you care? You make money regardless and you have a monopoly on sports video games.

Your not the only one disappointed with the STEADY decline in EA games. It has been voiced on here MANY times, and I'm with you. I'm DONE buying ANYTHING  EA until EA demonstrates that they have gone back to CARING about the quality of their product AND about their customers. Both of which are BLATANTLY lacking at this time.

As long as people like us are SERIOUS about boycotting EA products they will eventually HAVE to pay attn. Or drift into obscurity, which is where they belong with the games they have produced in the last 5 years or so.

I agree and am on board ,I love the game but refuse to get ripped off any more by a money hungry company.

The game has had MAJOR issues since 2010 when i started playing and I kept saying but it will get better!

The exact same issues the game had in 2010 are still in game and horrible problems yet EA does nothing but pump out more 20$ and 10$ packs of card every 2 to 3 days.

I will not buy another EA product till they revamp this whole game ,take out most of this BS AI that ruins games and playing style ,remove the auto hit (might as well call auto AI way for comp to give u penalties and get back in the game)

Also has anyone else noticed single player game VS comp doesnt understand which team is which when you change the side of camera view IE: camera Always Up or Alternate , this greatly affects the ice tilt and AI in game and makes the worst problem and it has been in game since start . I can also guarantee that carries through into HUT games and all VS.

But like you said untill people really start to voice their opinion and stop buying the game and packs EA will never fix it .

I agree with all of these posts.  I have been a loyal NHL fan since the 1997 version came out and with the exception of three versions of the game (99,09,13) I have owned every single version.

The first issue I would like to discuss is the skating.  The last time I checked it doesn't take a hockey player half the width of the rink to turn, I recently played NHL 12 to see the difference between that game and 14.  I was amazed at how much more control and how much quicker the players turned in NHL 12 vs NHL 14.  And this is supposed to be the most "realistc" game?  It makes the game very very frustrating to play when I try to manouver my player around the rink but it takes for ever to turn the player up ice.  The best analogy I can make of this is, it's like turning a frieght ship on the ice as you need half the ice to make your turn.

My second issue revolves around the goaltenders.  Yes once in a while a "soft" goal may go through a goaltender, however, the amount of goals that hit your tender and roll over his shoulder into the back of the net is ridiculas.  Not to mention the ones that seem to slide under the tenders pads like he's 4 inches off the ice is madening.  I will not go too much further in depth on this topic as the original post has made it very clear that the goaltending in future games needs to be addressed.

My final issue is with puck physics.  I played 15 games in the span of three days with my brother and we purposly dumped the puck into corners to test a theory, and sure enough we found what we were looking for.  Every time the puck gets dumped into a corner it jumps off the boards OVER players.  Once again I do not remember ever seeing this happen in a real hockey game (realistic?).  Not to mention how the puck bounces around like it is a lacrosse ball everywhere else on the ice just makes me shake my head.

I will say I have loved the additions to "Be a GM" mode, however unless these game play issues are resolved I do not know how I can ever justify spending my money on another version of this game again.

The NHL franchise used to be available for PC, but not anymore. I wish it were, so that perhaps a community of modders could take it upon themselves to fix these problems. (If my memory serves me correctly mods for the PC version once had released KHL teams and custom goalie masks, which are a couple of cool features) I can only speak about this game from a goal tender's point of view because that's all I play as. I haven't played as a skater since NHL 10 and I don't even think I know how skater controls work. But yeah, an NHL player is able to deke on a dime, and when it comes to turning they don't need the whole rink. I think what irritates me the most is that this franchise has the ability to become a great game, but it's like EA chooses not to. The fact that I have complained multiple times about this issue and how many bugs there are and why there shouldn't be any ice tilt in the game, and yet EA has not given a official response to my concerns shows me that they don't care. I wish another company would make an NHL game, because if they just simply focused on creating a bug-free environment with no ice tilt, it would be a good game. I would buy it. Just now, I played another exhibition in NHL 14. We were up, they tie. Go into OT and they score and win. If I feel like I have no control over the outcome, then the game is not fun. The amount of games where we lose the lead and then lose the game in OT is too many to be chance. So far in the current season, my record is 2-0-5.
