Have waited out the Chat adviser help system to see if there is a means to fix it locally, unfortunately when had spoken to Vidushi G, it would appear that it is a wide spread issue, and he advised that the packs will hopefully be openable in the next few days! Whether that happens is another thing as have seen that stated on a post dating back to september last year!
However would hope that the matter is treated with a sense of urgency, as the issue has been present in the game since its release almost 4 months ago, and given by the standard of the game that was sold and the support given doubt that would consider purchasing any further games in the franchise, if any produced by EA, as i do not feel comfortable having to pay the equivalent to a weeks worth of groceries for a game that doesn't fully work!
However would appreciate it if someone from EA would provide a personal acknowledgement of the issues raised, and more tangiable details of when the issue will be fixed, and what will be done to recompense the customers who have been affected by the issue present in an incomplete product.
Again i doubt that would happen, however it would be nice to receive an acknowledgment and some form of in game token gesture to perhaps restore some degree of faith in EA once again.
But guess the good old EA days are gone, considering that when last complained about a faulty game (Urban Strike) was sent the complete Strike Series for the Mega Drive, but guess that was then EA actually cared about their customers.
