@solemay ; you are not alone and the slowness has nothing to do with the time of the day. It has to do between you and your opponent and the lag is because of unoptimized network settings in the code. EA 's job server is to initiate the connexion. This is the same problem that Warner Bro had with Mortal Kombat on PS3; wired users couldn't get online' only on wifi. Users had to wait for the Komplete Edition to have it fixed on wired and WB always ignored this. Go buy the game; it wont work wired.
To resolve this issue, EA coders need to rewrite lines of code and maybe adjust MTU based on wired/wifi connexions that the PS4 is set or how often packets are fowarded to the opponents, it has to be different for wifi and for wired. I am not a game coder, but certified network architech/designer/administrator and can tell you the problem is in the code, not the network infrastructure as all other games are working ok, on WiFi it's a bit more playable and the access to a new vs game is way faster then last year. So their servers are fine.
I'll suggest at first to set your Ps4 to the right region in the setting and if you have DSL Internet ,switch over to cable or even better to fiber.
Secondly, there is a new update today; see if that help. One of my friend said he had one game with good frame rate tonight out of 5 games.
On my side, i have continued working on finding a way to make wired working properly without success even with the new update. Movement input laggy and sometime you feel the game is in slow motion and games last way longer because of that slowness. I also shared my LTE from my phone and it's better then when i am wired. I have call a friend to try and he was surprised to see the same thing. It's so slow on wired that it's unplayable and making you beleive that it's better on LTE.
On a final note, i have try different mtu packet size and same issue. Default on my network is 1500 and this has to stay like this.
