I am been sending messages via Twitter for 7 straight days about this issue. Last nhl game I ever buy. Beyond frustrating when I am on a breakaway or two on one or whenever and my player randomly spins while I'm shooting or skates backwards and hands the puck to the defender.
I feel your pain, this was never an issue until NHL 15. Let up on the hustle button for a second, this will fix the problem.
Holding the hustle button is the culprit. When you pass the puck while holding the hustle button the receiving player will turn around and skate backwards when they come in possession of the puck. This is some sort of programming glitch, when holding the hustle button down for some weird reason is making the controller activate the vision control. The vision control is what makes a skater back skate. This makes sense why this has been a problem since NHL 15 - the year they introduced the vision control feature.
This is happening I would estimate 75% of the time. Another issue with the hustle button when you hold down on it, your player gaining control of the puck from down low on your own goal line makes the puck carrier do a random spin-a-rama. So the one correlation between the vision control and spin controls is that they both require the user to press the left trigger (xbox 1). Of course I'm not pressing this button but if you hold down on the hustle button (press down on the left stick) these glitches have a high likelihood of happening. I would sure hope EA addresses this programming glitch.
I have had this same issue.. Whats really sucks is this is the only game I play. When I noticed last year in 15 I kept going to buy new xbox one controllers. A new controller seemed to improve the issue for about 1 week or so then I would have to buy another one RIDICULOUS . I finally got sick of doing that so I went and purchased a PS4.. The problem was stll there but much improved to the point that at least the game was playable. I have only had to buy 2 PS4 controller.
The bottom line is THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED EA . I want this issue highlighted in the next issue of the game in September.. I am furious over this seeing how again this is the only game I play and I spend AT least 2000 a year playing HUT. The franchie makes EA Billions fix the freaking issues. And While I am at it Please fix the Ice Tilt you Jokers keep saying does not exist. If it does not exist how can I go 0-5 with a completely stacked team with the best players in the world. But I go 9-1-1 with a team of all silver card players???? ICE TILT PERIOD
Nothing wrong with the controllers, all you need to do is test them out with other games. This issue started with NHL 15 and vision control. I figured it out in Team Practice mode. Select 5 players on offense and Breakout. The practice starts with you behind the net, throw a pass up the boards to your winger while holding the hustle button. The winger will turn around and back skate. Do it again, but this time don't hold the hustle button, winger never back skates.
As for your ice tilt, I believe it does exist to a point. But not for the reason you suggested. Just because you have a stacked team doesn't give you the birth right to win games. You still have to know how to play the game. I will say, I play the same settings every game, I can't understand how in one game my players are hard on the puck, looking to skate up the ice in one game, and in another, are skating around clueless, staring at the puck, throwing passes up the ice only to have the forwards momentum coming back towards my net. I don't understand why they don't play the same way each game.
