NHL 16 puck carrier randomly skate backwards

Puck carrier randomly decides to turn around and skate backwards. This was an issue with NHL 15 xbox 360. Now the same issue is with xBox One NHL 16. I don't press the vision control to activate the back skating, I have auto back skating turned off. This has plagued this game for a few years now since I've seen others post about the issue from past games. Yet, EA doesn't address the problem. There is nothing wrong with the controller. This is so frustrating I've lost countless games because of this apparent glitch in the game programming. I have a step or two on the defender and next thing I know it goes into this back skating mode and practically gives the defender the puck. Skaters from behind my own net also do spin-a-ramas for no reason when they come into possession of the puck. I assume this is related to the back skating issue as well. I get EA puts out broken products every year, I've lowered my standards with this company, but what I don't get is why some players (like me) are having this issue and others aren't.

Actually I hate to say it, someone on Reddit commented about this. It turns out that the controller is hypersensitive to your touch. The suggestion was to retrain myself on how to hold the controller so that my fingers did not touch the trigger. Turns out he was right. The spinning and back skating stopped. You need to hold the controller firmly in the grip portion of the controller and have  NO fingers resting on the trigger, period.

This problem happens only on NHL. I've never had it untill now. I was fixing my controllers (broken left stick housing) and after closing one of them and testing tho problem appeared. So I do think that the controller can be hyper sensitive but it appears only in NHL. This isn't something the community should work on, but sadly EA refuses to aknowledge this as also other faults in the game. I will open the cntrl again and see if I can find a fix.

  • I remember one of the games in way earlier games you had to hold the button to skate backwards ANY time.

I get that they have it in there to help people on the backcheck who aren't used to the controls, but holy man does it ever screw me up a lot!!!

One of the most frustrating things I've found with this game... other than the terrible selections when you hit the change player button sometimes - seems like it works in coordination with momentum somehow so it's impossible to pick the guy you need in time to stop buddy from scoring.

Or maybe it chooses players based on their overall rating or their playing position rather than who you need in the specific play. Like buddy is coming fast towards your end and you have both defenders back, it picks the guy that can't reach him in time, like every time... by the time you get the right guy, you've lost your position on him and then your guy is still skating backwards behind him, then he's on a breakaway... when you didn't even press the skate backwards button, and you have to loop around to get skating forwards to try to catch up to him to stop him... So frustrating!!!!

Momentum or not, you should be able to pick the guy who is going to stop the other guys play, at least after the second time pressing the change player button, not the 3rd or 4th time.
