@DyreLogan I can't really relate to the problem. I'm familiar with nhl games since nhl06 though.
Playing franchise mode on superstar difficulty as ottawa (certainly not the best team) and with the cpu difficulty slider all the way up, I'm still able to beat the best teams like tampa, toronto and boston around 7-3 or so. And the sliders are set to full sim, so it's not like they'd help on scoring or puck control. At least on superstar the goalies are quite decent at stopping normal shots. Ofc one-timers from the slot go in quite often, like in real life.
But I do agree that the cpu sometimes scores unrealistic goals, which in my experience are usually unrealistic tic-tack-toe passing plays. (players picking the puck from behind without looking)
However, my one complaint would be that the AI sometimes circles the puck way too much, compared to real-life hockey.
