NHL20 game file randomly corrupted

So I tried to sign into my NHL20 game a few days ago and noticed the gamefile had become corrupt and I could not sign in. I always turn my PS4 off from GUI so I'm not sure how this happened outside of faulty software or a glitch. I had pre-ordered the game for 99 and it was supposed to come with an array of packs. I have some awesome players.. all gone. Further into this, I had also spent another 100 dollars on in game packs. It's al gone. When I reached out to EA through chat and spoke to summit they refused to do anything at all to help. No refund, no crediting my account, nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm furious over how this is being handled and personally wont play another EA game again. The notion of pay-to-play for a video game is frustrating enough, but to find out the software is not professionally built (exception handling code have avoided this problem) truly infuriates me. I feel I have paid for a service that has not been delivered.

here's the transcript from the chat. Notice the unwillingness to take any action to resolve my issue.

Sumit (10/6/2019, 9:27:54 AM): Thank you for contacting EA HELP, my name is Sumit, may I start with your first name please?

  • Sumit is just a customer support person and holds no real power/permission to grant anything - they are right in referring you to PlayStation support since they technically have some power in monetary allowances but most, if not all these codes are one time use only. On paper, Sumit did everything right and it falls on the player to look after their account. "Acts of God" will always side with the company.

    It's always highly recommended to backup important data on a usb or external drive for this exact purpose. I don't mean to sound like a bad guy but if there was any inkling there would be a surge or storm or whatever, you need to turn your system off and/or use a surge protector. It's more of an electronics issue than the game.

    First check your cloud saves, sometimes those can be perfectly safe depending on your auto upload settings. If thats corrupted too you can always try a full restore but you should back everything up beforehand. It seems strange the entire team would just delete with the data though - save your stuff forst then just delete and restart the game; I know this has worked with others in the past

    @TTZ_Dipsy Thanks for the reply. But I’m a customer here, not a player. I’ve requested all funds towards the game and packs be refunded through my bank for a product not delivered. I didn’t rent these packs. I bought them. If the game cannot take the last known good save in the event of a power outage that’s poor exception handling in the code. If your telling me I’m * out of luck then I’m telling you your games a piece of *

    @APEprawn

    Just FYI, @TTZ_Dipsy is not an EA employee but is a super helpful dude here on AHQ so I have marked his post as the solution to your issue, thanks.
