Now, that being said, I feel EA made some changes to the overall line up for players.
I've got Kole Lind as a 3rd Line Scoring Forward, overall 84 at 25 with a potential of Med Top 6 F, but I've also got an 88 2nd Line Forward at 23 with Low Top 9....
Its very confusing TBH. It seems the tweaked things some. Also, why did Colorado let McKinnon go? After his contract. He wanted 10 million.... LoL There loss, my gain!
Ive seen player potential change a lot too in '21 I signed Vinnie hinistroza or whatever his name is was 77 overall with top 9 potential and within 3 years playing on my second line he went to an elite med and an 88 overall also had ondrej Kase go up to an elite med had a played I drafted at elite med go up to franchise med so it definitely happens
Also Potential and Role are two different factors at 84 overall he still has top 6 potential but at his current stats he's best suited as a 3rd line scoring winger if he jumps to an 85 or 86 his role will probably move to second line and if he's 88+ probably a first line role
I think the roles are more tired to morale than anything and it's the players expected role not where you're supposed to play them but where "THEY" think they should be playing don't play players with a second line role on your fourth line or they'll get upset about ice time and stuff
