Poor ping/connection
Why over the last couple weeks have the pings and connections gotten so bad? I just had the worst game in years with a ping over 8000. Used best game location and that's what I got.
A lot of this most likely has to do with the higher number of people playing. The internet in general is feeling the strain from people staying home due to the pandemic. We can also go through some connection troubleshooting. First, if it hasn't been done in a while, it's good to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem, router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem and router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. If that doesn't help, let me know what systems you guys are playing on and we'll continue to troubleshoot. Thanks!
Honestly answer this; when was the last time there has been server maintenance done since the COVID outbreak started?
It’s a shame because I know two people that just got the game and we’re contemplating buying it next year that probably won’t due to this.
Especially considering there are less players playing now than November when this issue wasn’t happening.
I'm not involved in server maintenance, but they are regularly maintained.
I totally get the frustration with this. We want you guys to be able to play lag-free. We also all have different experiences. While 99% of my games do not lag, that's not the case for everyone. There are a multitude of variables involved. ISPs, equipment, distance to the servers, traffic on your network, traffic on the servers you go through, etc. The biggest contributor these days appears to be the sudden influx of traffic to the internet as there are slower connections world-wide. If everyone was experiencing the same thing, it would be easier to track down, but since it's appearing to be random and is more or less for some people, it's not that easy. It's also not so simple as upgrading the servers or adding more servers. So, the best I can do is go through connection troubleshooting.
