Post whistle face off frame rate issue

in eashl 3v3 for ps5, I sometimes I have a 3 second frame rate freeze or shutter issue after a face off following an offsides whistle.

it might be correcting itself after puck loss or a turn over.  It’s hard to tell based on the problem.

I’ve checked my tv settings and my fiber internet network stuff, and there is no issue with them.

no other ps5 game gives me these problems.  Don’t have any networking issues on my pc games either, so this looks to be the same issue are posting about having on Reddit.

I can provide a video clip, if it’s needed for bug reporting.

    Hi there, @Bladescorpion.

It would be great to see a clip of this. If you have one, please link it here. Also, have you tried any troubleshooting so far?

  • I probably have a clips of it which I sent to my brother on an occasion or two.

I’ll try and upload it to YouTube later, and post the video or message it to you directly.

in the meantime here are some troubleshoot steps I took:

I have a fiber isp, so it shouldn’t be an isp problem unless it is a line in my area.   Nothing else was on and connected so throttling should not have been a thing

I have a Samsung tv, and have my tv on game mode as well as tried two different 4k hdmi cables, as well as adjusted the ps5 output settings. It shouldn’t be related to output cables.

I have fiber, network analysis says no issues. I tested my home connection by running a ping -t against google on my desktop while playing show no packet losses on my pc either. So it looks like no packet loss at the ps5 or router level as it would show on my pc ping.

I have tried two Ethernet cables which I had made and tested which have no issues on other systems.

controller actions do persist during the issue, as I have been on the giving and receiving of penalty shots before, which led me to thinking it was camera, frame, or packet issues.

My brother and I use different camera setting and I have not compared yet.  I tend to follow my player instead of the puck and he prefers the opposite.

I did not have this issue with last year’s title.

Thanks for all those details. Do you have NHL 22 installed on an internal or external hard drive? Also, alternate DNS settings may help. Try following the steps here. If you don't see a difference, try the Google DNS servers. Those are: Primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - Secondary alt number 8.8.4.4.

It’s on the internal drive.  I never connected up an external because PS5 had some issues external ones on launch.

Here is the video I saved of the last time we played:

    https://youtu.be/LrXhYBGvTqc

I’ll look into the setting you mentioned, and try to capture a longer than 15 second clip next time.

Posted video was off an icing face off win, iirc.  I am the center and from my testing my stick skating, shooting, and checking matches where my dude is.  I’ve actually managed a rebound goal once off that and a couple of penalties.

I don’t always have the issue it’s just some times thing.  I’ve seen it happen off icing face offs, offsides face offs, and penalty shot fail face offs.

    @Bladescorpion

That looks like a connection issue. Did you try the alternate DNS settings I mentioned? Also, is UPnP enabled on your router?

  • @EA_Aljo

changing primary and secondary dns had no effect with either upnp setting.

still happing occasionally off a faceoff in the defensive zone after a play penalty, icing, or offsides stoppage.

Are you and your brother playing from the same location? If so, does he also experience this? Something else you can check is to see if your router supports QoS (Quality of Service). If it does, make sure that is enabled.
