PS3 Randomly freezes when playing NHL 14

I understand there are other threads similar to this.  But in reading most of them, it would seem it is more related to Sim'ing season's.

My issue is more random and I`m hoping others have had problem and know what might be the cause.

I`ve had NHL 14 since October.  I`ve played it quite often .. especially within the last 2 months.   I had no issue's with it until recently. 

The entire time I`ve had NHL 14, it was running fine.   But now the game freezes , practicaly anywhere. It`s completly random where and when it will happen. 

I only play : Live the Life mode.   I don't sim.. I play every game of the season.  I play as a Center Sharpshooter.    I`m in first season NHL.. with Ottawa Senators.  I`ve played every game so far.. and I`m up to near the end of March on the schedule.

As mention, the game can freeze pracically anywhere.. Menu`s.. during the game.. End of the game.. Right while I`m playing.. and bang.. everything stops. No sound.. just paused picture.     My PS button doesn't respond.. I can't even quit the game.. PS3 is fully frozen.

I have no choice but to phsically press the PS3 power button, so that it beeps three times and shuts down.  Then on reboot, the PS3 does the standard hard drive test, . 

As I mention several times, its fully random.. I can sometimes get through 2 or 3 games without a problem.. and other times.. I can't even get through 1 game.. where it will freeze  2, or 3 or 4 or 5 times  , where I just give up.   I try another time.. and I might , as I say, get through a game or 2.  

I have no idea what is going on.. The game , as mentioned was fuly 100% stable for the first 3-4 months I`ve owned the game.  It`s only in the last 2 weeks or 3 .. that it has started doing this.

Please is there any thoughts.. idea`s.. of the cause.   Ivè heard mentioned of custom music as a cause.. I don't use any.   I heard mention of happening when sim'ing seasons.  I don't sim , as I`ve mentioned.    

I have no clue at this point.. I honestly just want to get through the season, and playoffs to see what happens.. before I retire this game out of frustration.

Is there any file on PS3, that I can delete?  To sortof re-install , if that`s even done with this game..  to the ps3?   I know I have my save games.. But I don't think there is any data  copied from the disk to the ps3.   

I would love to hear your input and suggestions. I`m hoping someone has had the same experience and found a solution.
