PS3 Wireless Controller Problem

So I was playing LTL, and my character kept skating to the bench, and skating to the bench, and and and.  After the first period, he had 1:37 TOI, and there were no special teams situations in the period, either.

So about halfway through the second, I noticed the positional arrow was flickering a bit just before the auto-bench.  Hmm...

So I paused the game, plugged the controller back in, and played the rest of the game with the DualShock 3 plugged in, and the issue disappeared.

Seems NHL 14 is having trouble with wireless controllers?  Other games that I play don't do weird inputs when the controller is unwired.  I can get a low battery warning on other games, but none of them "make up" inputs like that.
