What mode are you trying to play and what console are you on? If it's Online Versus, you should be able to add someone by going to the team selection screen and hitting LB/L1 to add a friend.
Do you need to have a paid-for EA Play account to play a friend online? I can't access the Online Versus section because it says I can't go online without an EA Play account.
What am I missing?
Community ManagerYou need an EA account, but you don't need a subscription to EA Play. Do you have a PS+ or Xbox Live Gold suscription? Those are required for online play.
