Upgrade servers to increase the tick rate and reduce the amount of maximum buffer between when gameplay information is received by the game and when it is visually rendered on the screen, like EA temporarily did with FIFA few years back.
I live on eastern Long Island 400 miles from Quebec and 300 plus miles from northern VA server. I am hardwired on Xbox X series and I have a nighthawk pro gaming router xr1000, I have Verizon Fios1 gig download and upload. In game ping shows 15. I made a list of the location of the players who I play, I ask them after the game. I have results from about 100 of them. 2/100 were from NY tri-state area which makes up 6 percent of US population. How can I live in such a heavily populated area and rarely play anyone who lives by me?
Most people I play are from province of Quebec, also NE USA like Massachusetts, New Hampshire, also play people in DC a lot and in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh area. Played a few people from Buffalo and Toronto. Everyone of these people are closer to the server than me and out of those 100 games I could safely say 5 of them felt ok, when I played someone who lived by me on Long Island, when I played people in Florida, and when I played people in South Carolina.
You guys have been getting this feedback for years from people playing FIFA and NHL ever since the switch to dedicated servers.
I understand the whole protocol you require asking about people’s connection etc, I get it people are dumb, some playing on WiFi and complaining about lag and of course there are so many factors that we can change as the end user.
At this point however, EA has to know that the majority of people playing the game and having these issues aren’t because of their set up, many people have given you guys valuable information about their connection and nothing gets done.
I am resigned to just accepting it is physics 101 and physical proximity to server means a lot.
