Hello, please make sure that only 1 controller and 1 profile logged in to the console. Also if you have a USB/Guiter Hero USB dongle plugged in then please unplug them and then try the game.
If the issue still persists then please try the below steps
1.Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then select My games & apps.
2.Highlight NHL 20, press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Manage game & add-ons.
3.In the menu on the left side of the screen, scroll down to Saved Data, then highlight the saved data for your gamertag on the right and press the A button on your controller.
4.You'll be prompted to confirm deletion of this game save data then Choose Delete from console.
Then please remove the gamer tag by following the steps below
1. From the Home Screen, using the controller scroll left to the navigation pane.
2. Scroll down to Settings Icon.
3. In the Setting menu scroll down to Account.
4. Select Remove accounts.
5. Select the account that you want to remove.
6. Select Remove to confirm.
7. When you're finished, select Close.
after that please shutdown the console and then unplug the power from the wall outlet and wait for 20-30 seconds and then plug in the power back again and then switch on the console and then re-add the gamer tag using the steps mentioned below
1. From the Home Screen, using the controller scroll left to the navigation pane.
2. Select Sign in.
3. Scroll down to Add & Manage.
4. Select Add new.
5. Type the email address or phone number you use to sign in to your Microsoft account.
6. Enter your password
Follow the remaining on screen instructions to get the account signed in
then just go to: Settings->Account->Privacy & online safety->Xbox Live privacy->View details & customize->Communication & multiplayer.
Set everything to “allow” or “everybody”
Finally load the game.
