Hmm ok. I know some of the links in The Vault also take you to paid links instead of free versions of games so, like with those, I recommend you manually search the game in your store menu; sometimes this solves the problem -- if that doesn't work I then recommend you try downloading it through your computer

thanks for the recommendations, unfortunately neither worked. 

I remember actually clicking on the purchase link at one point and down the road was able to play the trial - It's weird and unlikely but try clicking the link and see if that will initiate the download. It could just come down to the trial and purchase links sharing the same text (you download the full game when playing the trial so they could be conflicting with one another)

Did this help or did you find another way to get the NHL 20 Play First Trial to work so others can try it? Looking to mark this as a solution so others have an easier time getting into the game if they encounter some trouble like you did. 👍
