It happens when your team is either above or below the cap ceiling/floor. You’d need to call up/send down someone who either makes more or less than the person you’re trying to call up/send down. 

holy crap, did that actually make sense? It does in my head, but I’m crazy.

Anyway, the thing that drives me crazier is when you’re retaining salary to keep your team above the floor, but you can’t send any players down because the Roster Moves screen doesn’t take into account retained salary.

  • @kyl_35 Thanks for the response. I have about 2.9 in cap, picked up a guy on waivers (.7) and got roster warning when tried to call him up. So, tried sending down a bloke and it still said something about the cap. Perplexing. Maybe it's about number of recalls post deadline?

    @fizzmon Yeah, sounds like you have 23 guys on the roster already in that case.

    You can make as many moves as you want, but can’t have more than 23 guys (not on IR) on your NHL roster. Even in the playoffs.
