Re: Take downs in fights
No its a great feature once you learn how to use it and use it well (Not saying you havn't)...You didnt exactly ask for an explination but Id like to help make your fighting experience better...
Once your opponent punches and you dodge the punch using LT and pulling away and you make a successful clear dodge you need to push or pull (Left Stick) your opponent to attempt a tackle...This means push and pull into you opponent or toward their unbalaced side..DONT just flick LS up and down...This makes you watch body movement/balance to win a fight not just arm swings...
If your successful the opponent falls and if not then you still usually throw your opponent off balance giving advantage for a counter punch...the benefit of this feature is that it makes the entire fighting experience more in depth and requires more skill...Punch mashers are very vulnerable to this move which is great bc button mashers suck...mashers usually dont us the LS which controls direction/balance...You need to use to the left stick to counter a tackle attempt and regain your balance.
It is also good at keeping the entire fight competitive if you start out poorly and are desperate this move always keeps hope alive in the fight as a last ditch effort...It is also great when you are facing a difficult opponent (Underdog bc of fighting skill/speed/strength/ect..)..It allows for the underdog to have a chance even if its small. This move makes every single fight between anyone more intense and matter much more than previous NHLs.
I agree that that giving the same fight win bonus is cheap. I think if you win with a takedown you should get like half of the boost you normally would because its not as intense and wouldnt pump up the crowd or teamates as much as a clean KO...But the must give some sort of bonus for it because wrestling/takedowns are a big part of real life fights and they are a difficult skill to master online and should be rewarded for that alone...
You will master it eventually and I think you will change your opinion on it once you do...just focus on body movement for a while and your entire fighting style/skill will develope alot very quickly..sorry so long
