EA fix your idiotic matchmaking system. Aijo has said in the past that the search expands outside our division after 20 seconds. Clearly incorrect. I just played a guy way above my division after a 5 second search. Blueberry followed that up last year by saying this wasn't the case, which leads one to question what exactly the matchmaking system even does. Why are there divisions? Do you intentionally pit lower division players against higher division players? Do any of you even know or understand what the system does? Is this supposed to be fun for either player? Are you just handing out easy wins to go along with the tiered rewards? No video proof, as a simple screenshot should suffice. Lost the game 11-0 and yet didn't lose ranking points.

Played my 1st Rivals today. My team is mid 80's. I got match against a guy playing as Toronto whose lowest player was 96!!! He had Legends and everything and absolutely destroyed me 9-0. I think I made it pass the blue line twice. Not sure I'll ever play Rivals again.

Matched against a team with: mcd, drai, kuch, Marchand, stamkos and many other loaded players through the lineup. I got dominated in every aspect of the game, I’ll probably not play hut anymore and stick to online versus cause of this *.

@EA_Blueberry Which part? That I had to play way above my division after a short search (or, at all...) or that I wasn't penalized for losing?

My suggestion is to make it possible to choose the maximum divisions above your own of your opponent so you can match with someone you have a chance to play an even game against. As it is now you are sometimes matched against players 7 divisions above your own.

It's because the population is so low that all you get matched with are the pathetic people who've spent thousands on this game so far just to have the best team from day 1 and all they'll do is figure skate around, spam the poke check and only look for the cross crease or glitch goals, it's sad especially with the teams these guys have. Whatever happened to actually playing hockey?
The online community for this game is so low that EA won't even tell us how many copies they sell each year because each year more and more players leave due to the fact that EA only caters to the top streamers and could care less about the issues the community brings up. The most recent dud of a patch further proves that.

Seems to be a bigger problem this year because the player pool is so divided among consoles. It seems I either get a game of someone well below my level or I get crushed. Perhaps 1/10 games is actually at my level...and those are great. Isn't that the point? I'd rather lose the boosted graphics and get to play both PS4 and PS5 players to increase the player pool. For me, quality of the game play is what's most important. If I want perfect graphics, I watch an IRL game.

My boyfriend just bought me the X factor edition version of NHL 22. I started my placements and finish Division 8. Played 9 games of Rivals where I lost 6 games but didn't lose much SR. I messaged some of my opponents asking what division they were in and turns out I played some D4, D3, and D2 opponents! Am I missing something? Anyways I'm not enjoying HUT so I deleted my team. Will try other modes before considering uninstalling and asking for a refund.

@EA_Aljo So I loved NHL 21 & 20 & we’ll all of them before 22 and even tho I sucked and would normally have to spend about a $1000 on my team right of the hop in order to wing half my games I played in division 10 I still loved the game and have continued to do this year after year and I’m fine with it but when I did this this year just to fined out that after dropping $3000 on my team and having the most elite team money can by and I still don’t win and can’t win cause even with an elite time I would never see a division higher then 8 and only seen that once for a shirt time and now I’m almost back in ten as I can’t win and to find out I may never be able to win another game with my $3000 team because of a match making issue this sucks big time had I of know the matchmaking in this game wasn’t going to be like every other year I never would have bought the game let alone spent $3000 on my team what a waste not happy at all fix this or even give me a little bit of my money back I spent trying to win a losing battle
