Season Mode: User control all teams - Simulating results in freezing/Error Code

Platform:Sony Playstation 4
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Season mode. User controls all teams, full roster control, no CPU trades. Injuries ON, 5 miunte periods. Assistant coach manages lines. After a few games played in season mode it becomes impossible to progress. Simulating any number of days forwards results in freezing (game itself doesn't freeze but there is no progress in the simming even after 10+ minutes) OR the game itself will crash with error code CE-34878-0. Happened with 2 different saves, One during the EA Play 10 hour trail and the exact same error on Day 1 of release.
What happens when the bug occurs? Game freezes during simming or crashes completely.
What do you expect to see? Being able the adjust the roster of any team under my control and simming the season without freezing or crashing.

I've noticed that the freezing of the simming usually occurs after I make changes to a team's roster by using either the 'Player Movement' feature or the 'Roster Moves' feature in the Season Mode menu. Sometimes after adding or removing players from a team's roster the entire lineup will have their team lines (Offense, Defense, Powerplay etc.) deleted. It's like the game sometimes doesn't accept the changes I make and tries to revert to the default lineups but can't because some players are no longer on the team's roster.


Possible unrelated but the Free Agency pool also has several duplicate players. Players that are both on a team's roster and in the Free Agency pool.

  • After some more investigating I discovered the culprit to be the 'Player Movement' and "Roster Moves' features. If you use these feature during Season mode and move players from team to team any team that had a player removed or added will clear ALL team lines, the Assistant Coach feature does not automatically adjust the lines and will just clear all options. If the player then tries to simulate forward when there is a team with unfilled lines the game will freeze when simulating forward. This bug DOES NOT occur if there is an injury however, the Assistant Coach can successfully update the teams lines/roster without issue, it's just when done manually by the player.

    Moving players around will also result in duplicates occuring at times. I've encountered up to 3 duplicates at times. 1 in Free Agency, 1 on the NHL squad and 1 on the AHL squad. Modifying rosters in Season mode is just a mess right now. This needs to be fixed as everytime there is a manual roster change it takes a long time to manually refill a team's lines from scratch.

    season mode is unplayable now due to these freezes...EA, fix this asap please

    I "resolved" it just by double checking both teams lines whenever I do a transaction and filling in the blanks where necessary. Hardly a proper solution and can be somewhat time-consuming but having all lines filled will at least prevent the freezing and crashing.
