Skating and Passing Xbox 360

Ok, my guys can not skate, they are all 89 or up but they take hours to change direction and they don't hustle for the puck. My breakout is super slow, the puck carrier passes my whole team.  I don't understand skating, passing or the AI in this game.  Can someone help me not get frustrated playing this game.
