On a 3-on-4 rush, the insanely bad and passive AI allows the puck carrier to waltz into the slot untouched. The forwards both cover one guy along the boards and the defencemen just keep backing in.
The offensive AI is awful, too. Here is the Superstar AI on a powerplay, with terrible positioning and player movement, and nonsensical passing that results in the puck leaving the zone with almost no pressure on them.
Can EA get Marc Crawford back to help them with the basics of hockey again?
- 4 years ago@Jagavekov right on with this post. I win the majority of my games online vs. But I have to play knowing the AI is going to be a nuisance more than anything. Besides just being zombies on ice, I have to assume they'll never be in a positionaly common sense area and that they'll more than likely just run into me when trying to set up a play. Probably the most frustrating part of the game.

I get it. But honestly? This is just a good play on your part. And your AI forward that you follow in. He splits the D and forces them to retreat and switch. You follow in and take advantage of it.
It reminds me of what Gaudreau did to the Blackhawks the other night. Force the defenders to switch and sometimes they get confused.
Check out the guy that was initially covering the guy going to the net though. WTF is he doing? Just skates over to the boards for no reason.

I agree that the forward driving the net is a good hockey play and should create SOME extra space and time for the puck carrier, it just should not create AS MUCH space and time as it did in the clip. The AI should have realized way sooner - probably around when my guy got to the top of the circle - what was happening, and they should have attacked the puck carrier more aggressively. It is like their decision making is delayed all over the ice on defense.
