The poke check needs work

I know people aren't happy about the poke check this year.  All good to dial it back some but PLEASE can the poke check be fixed so that it pokes where I'm aiming.  Like the skill stick.  Right now if I poke in front of a player and they spin, my poke check automatically pokes to the puck and goes in their skates.  Very frustrating when I didn't aim there.

This might also help those that feel the poke check is too powerful.  At the higher skill levels in the game, a poke check shouldn't have any 'assistance'.  It should poke where I'm aiming. It seems to work better when you hold your stick out on defense but not on an actual poke check.

Also, how about some real hockey rules where if you poke the puck then the player trips, it is a good poke check and there is no penalty!

    Hello, @dew37.

    Pokes go towards the puck automatically. If you use DSS, it can be aimed.

    The rule has changed. Even if you hit the puck first, a penalty can still be called.

    Hi @EA_Aljo,

    Thanks for the rule update.

    I only see Controller Settings | Controls | Skill Stick.  I have this set to skill still and my poke check still goes towards the puck automatically.

    I don't see a specific defensive skill stick setting (assuming that is what DSS is).  Is there another setting somewhere?

    Thank you!

    The defensive skill stick is used by holding in RB/R1. You can then sweep your stick and aim it at the puck. It's not a specific setting you enable in the controller settings.

    Hi @EA_Aljo ,

    Thanks for your reply.  Yes I do use that if I want to steer the player away from the net or try to keep a stick in the passing lane but I think the poke check should work the same way.  I don't want the game assist putting my stick where I don't want it.  Players spin like tops in the game because they know about this poke check game mechanic making it unusable.  I want to be able to anticipate the player/puck position with lower risk of a penalty while accepting the additional accuracy required for a successful poke check.

    @dew37

    You can also hold down the DSS and click down on the right stick to poke while in DSS. That will let you manually aim your pokes.
